The First Day of the Week
From the formless void of night,
God's first gift to us was light.
On the first day, brightness came-
Lightening dark with living flame.
From the ruin of sin's dark blight,
Jesus came to give us light.
And again the brightness came
Resurrection-like a flame
On the first day, banned the night,
Filled the heart with pulsing light.
